GlobalPay for Students

We believe that empowering young people to experience different cultures is perhaps the best way to begin building a better world. Western Union is proud to offer multiples ways to help students and their families on their educational journeys.

Western Union’s education solutions make it easy to pay for overseas study with both digital and offline options for tuition payments. In India, for example, families of students studying abroad can pay tuition online or in person at select agent locations, while in China, families can pay tuition from a mobile phone.

Western Union also offers GlobalPay for Students, enabling universities and other institutional partners to offer their international students a fast and easy way to pay their tuition and fees, so they can concentrate on their studies.

Since its inception, more than 800,000 students around the world have used Western Union’s GlobalPay for Students to pay their for tuition and maintenance fees. Around the world, more than 700 educational institutions trust us to manage their international payments. In the last two years, Western Union has moved more than $4.5 billion for accredited schools and universities.

NGO GlobalPay

Every day, and particularly in times of crisis, NGOs must move resources to remote and sometimes hazardous areas. Often, NGOs send funds not knowing when they will arrive, in what amount, and at what cost in fees and charges. These uncertainties can limit NGOs’ vital operations on the ground, as well as create challenges of accountability and transparency of those operations.

Western Union Business Solutions’ NGO GlobalPay provides NGOs better ways to manage and deliver funds where they are needed, making it easy to send payments globally in more than 130 currencies by wire, draft, retail cash, or mobile wallet deposit.

Since NGO GlobalPay was launched in 2012, more than 2,000 NGOs have sent nearly $8 billion around the world to more than 200 countries– moving money to refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war, to medical personnel during recent Ebola outbreaks in Africa, and to relief workers during natural disasters.

GlobalPay is just one of the many ways Western Union works to help people around the world to connect, continue their education and support causes that are important to them. Information about other programs and products that we offer to support global citizens, including our compliance and anti-fraud work, is available in our ESG report.
